Curly Tales

Take a deep breath before you get onto a bus.

“Why? Because that’s as much oxygen your going to have until you reach your destination. Honestly, what’s it with people who travel by bus in Sri Lanka, why don’t they ever open the shutters that adorn every possible frame on the sides of the bus. Its understandable that the shutters are closed when it rains, but on HOT and HUMID days that’s just unthinkable. Maybe its because people are scared that the dirt and dust from outside will creep into their nostrils and choke them to death. Retarded. Or maybe its a way of preventing people from flying into the bus when an accident occurs. Oh if women are worried about ruining their hairstyles… have you ever wondered when trying to get off how difficult it is to maneuver yourself in those awfully crowed buses where people are almost standing on your laps, well then did you turn back to see whether you hair was still on your head, I guess at that moment your main concern is to get off at the right stop. I can think of a million and one things as to why the shutters are always closed. Anyway have you noticed that because the shutters aren’t opened on a regular basis they are now simply impossible to open without having to prop your feet against the front seat, teeth clenched and tug at it with all your might, while hoping that your fingers will survive the trauma. Ridiculous.

So go on open the shutters let the air circulate around that clammy armpits, the onion and garlic food fiesta that you devoured last night something that you just had to share with us on your way to work. Well apart from that I like to say “Fasten your seatbelts and look forward to a smooth ride”.
