The wink

June 27, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I hate it when these men at office wink at me. I’m sure they do it to other girls as well. Gosh it makes me so uncomfortable. The next time they wink at me I’m going to be blunt and ask them rather loudly “hey you,why are you winking at me?”. Hope that will embarrass them enough to stop.

The missing sandwitch

June 27, 2007 · 1 Comment

Someone hijacked missingsandwitch’s blog, I know its late news but I didn’t have time to write about it. Whoever who did it is such as evil person and I hope something really bad happens to him/her. Something almost similar happened to me once, it drove me so mad that I deleted my blog. Well in my case I knew the person behind it , it was this piece of flubber in office who could do a lot more with her sorry life than read blog that weren’t supposed to be read by her and then advertising it to the rest of the world. I wish I hadn’t deleted my blog though because I had a few good pieces of writing on it and I regret losing them. Some people are just so mean.

Anyway missingsandwitch hope you find the loser and when you do @#$%^%#@##$()%@

Venice

June 18, 2007 · 1 Comment

I wrote this rather short story a long time ago because I was bored and annoyed with the guy who portrayed Shylock. So I decided to write a story to portray him (my friend) as an evil person lacking any feeling…I kinda started getting bored towards the end that’s why it ends rather strangely.

Once upon a time in Venice. The night was filled with eerie shadows that cast themselves on the walls of cobblestone. The vacant gondolas seemed to be breathing with life as I took every daunting step to get to a place that would be inhabited with familiar friendly faces. Suddenly I heard soft footsteps approaching. I waited and watched the lonely figure in black, hunched from age tentatively walk towards me. In a husky and dangerous voice every word he spoke sent showers of saliva spraying across the deathly quiet night. His eyes were as dark as his cloak and he seemed to disappear into the darkness as I listened in silence as he told me his story about a past that I never knew about.

It all began on a dark day in the harbour where the merchants and the slave traders were selling their wares. The slave trader by the name of Phinnias was approached by a beautiful rich lady who came from distant Bellario. She inquired about the damsel who was about to be sold to a rather harsh looking man who no doubt had other things on his mind. The rich lady, Portia, felt pity for the girl and paid Phinnias thrice the money to purchase her. Portia on her journey back to Bellario inquired about the girl whose brown eyes glistened with apparent happiness at her release from the cruelty of slavery. She learned that the girl who’s name was Fufu had a touch of African and Mediterranean blood which explained the beauty and fire that ran through every vein in her body. In Portia’s household Fufu encountered another young girl called Fifi and they became good friends. Fifi was a bubbly girl who was always ready to indulge in Fufu’s mad ways; together they played the merry devil in Portia’s household making everyone’s life either miserable or bright and cheerful. Then on a day when the sun was shining, the flowers blooming and the birds chirping arrived an irritating boy who could never stop talking in rather weird voices. His only ambition in life was to annoy poor Fufu and Fifi. One day Fufu couldn’t take it anymore, so she consulted Fifi and asked her for her help. Together they plotted an evil plan to get rid of the annoying creature who haunted the halls of Portia’s house.

Back on the street of Venice, the air became chilly as the cloaked man said “The evil plan that the two friends carried out will never be revealed but revenge is what he seeks. With that he disappeared into the darkness.

Remember these four things about anyone you meet:

1. They’re afraid of something.
2. They love something.
3. They’ve lost something.
4.They’re dreaming of something.

People, in general

June 14, 2007 · 5 Comments

I love reading books that talk about psychological aspects of a human being. The reason is because I’m intrigued about how the human minds works (thanks to my mother) and just absolutely love the questions that churn up… for instance why are people driven towards committing crime? Why are people sensitive? and the list is endless. Recently I’ve become very interested in physiological profiling. Foreign countries use this system to catch perpetrators.

I would like to say that I’m pretty good with dealing with people because I tend to analyze them in all aspects not only physically but also mentally and after I’m done with that, it becomes easier to handle their quirks, and for that it requires a lot of patience and understanding.

Two interesting cases should be mentioned in this post. The first is of a friend who’s extremely sensitive, the most annoying thing about the whole situation is that wherever she’s faced with a problem she drives herself into a shell and won’t let anyone help her and usually the problem isn’t that big. She just assumes things about people without talking to them and that’s crazy. The other is this guy who needs a brain examination, his mood changes like a woman. Every time he has had a problem in the recent past I’ve told him the advantages and disadvantages and I also tell him what I would do if I were in his situation, he listens then gets himself into a mess. Bluntly put he digs a hole and then falls into it. You really need a lot of patience with him and usually most people can’t handle it and end up having a fight but strangely I’m the only person who hasn’t had a fight with him yet. The weird thing is that a couple of months ago he nominated me as his friend in need. I wonder what good it does to him if he never takes my advice.

People sure are funny and that’s why I love them. Oh and I’m aware that people psycho analyze me as well and I’m sure that to some I’m one of those foul tasting syrups that don’t seem to go down your throat (No Ashan I don’t think this sentence has any vulgarity in it, it’s just your mind). Which reminds me that I need to take my tonic (the one that smells awful).

Finding Mr. Right

June 8, 2007 · 1 Comment

Lady from church: So when are you getting married?

Me rather sweetly: Why, do you have a son?

Let’s just say she didn’t catch me in good mood.

People have the tendency to worry about things that don’t concern them. Since of late a couple of friends are getting on my nerves. Because it’s been two years since my last relationship, they think it’s about time that I find myself a man. It may sound easy but in reality thats so bloody difficult. There are a few guys who do like me and have asked me out but I’ve very tactfully turned them down. Because deep down inside I know that they’re not the right person for me. Its getting a bit frustrating looking for the right person and its getting even more frustrating turning down the not so suitable candidates. I beginning to sound like Portia who had various excuses for her different suitors. Am I just been too fussy? At least that’s what my friends think. I do feel lonely at times but I’m not desperate though. Since of late I don’t like going out much because almost all my friends have partners so I do feel a bit left out.

Recollecting a conversation with a friend of mine

Friend: What’s wrong with so and so, he likes you.

Me frustrated: Nothings wrong with him, he’s just not for me

Friend: He’s rich

Me giving up: Yeah that helps a lot.

Predicting the unpredictable

June 6, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Life is so unpredictable isn’t it? I guess that’s what makes life interesting. What makes me ponder over this subject???

There were four of us (girls) who used to hang out in the good old days when we were all studying to become journalists. That includes me, Jums, Poo and Sadicks. We used to have random conversations about what direction our lives should take. Sadicks was the last person who said that she wanted to get married and been a Muslim, we found that very surprising. As time passed Sadicks found teaching a profession she enjoyed, while Poo went dabbling in all kinds of things especially writing, Jums fearlessly charged in pursuit of journalistic career while I choose a field that suited my personality.

I met up with Poo and Sadicks a few months back and was surprised to find out that Sadicks tied the knot. What’s even more surprising is that she gave birth to a baby boy a month ago. Oh congratulations by the way.

Another story. Angie and Dils are sisters and I’ve known them for the past 11 years. I’m especially close to Dils because of our very similar personalities. Ever since she turned 16 the only thing on her mind was to get married, because for her that seemed like an escape route (note: this is one of the similarities we don’t share). Angie was the type who didn’t care much for marriage unlike her sister. But weirdly Angie who’s only a year and half older than myself has decided to get married and is doing so on the 16th of this month. Congratulations Angie.

I used to think that I would be happily married by the age of 21 but that definitely is not going to happen because I don’t even have a steady boyfriend. Boy life sure is strange.
