Everyone makes a fashion blunder at some point in their life and that’s acceptable after all we live and learn (or is it learn and live???) but what’s it with people who make them every single day.
Breaking the fashion norms and creating a style which is suitable is a tough thing to do but there are people who have done it…then there are the ones who’ve completely missed the bus. Let me take you through a couple of my favourite examples of how people get it SOOOOOO wrong (consulted a few buddies with fashion sense before I wrote this)…
Imagine looking at a woman in her 40’s dressed up in teenage garb. What’s the first thing that comes to your mind? (unless of course you’re the woman we are talking about) First, sirens go off in your head, you see red and your mind screams “GET A LIFE!!! Not a life that subtracts 30 years of your existence. Do those people honestly think that they look good in those outfits?
Okay another one, imagine this, you’re at a concert sitting on a concrete step happily talking to friends while a group of perverts on a step higher stare at a girl’s luminous thong glaring from the step in front of you? Would you be embarrassed for her? What if she doesn’t care, would you be embarrassed for her even more than the first time?
Why do people with bad skin show others they have bad skin? Why do people with fat show it off…they simply take the whole ’show your curves’ a bit too seriously…I’m talking about the muffin tops and stretching clothes more than the stretchable limit.
Oh something else that pisses me off is when someone has a unique sense of style, someone else copies it. Don’t they understand what suits one person won’t suit another? Like for instance, kitsch is in these days but only certain people can pull it off… Or tights/ leggings or whatever you call it, people with nicely shaped legs should wear it not people who have bulging fat calves or skinny toothpick legs (so that’s out for me).
It’s easy to have fashion sense, if of course you have common sense.

Men say women are complicated. Women say men are the ones who are complicated. Who’s more complicated? Only god knows. A friend of mine brought up the topic that men and women are two different species. Are we? Recently I’ve noticed (since all of my good friends are males) that their behavioral pattern is changing. For instance men gossip, they love shopping, love talking on the phone for hours, spend hours getting dressed, are sensitive and possessive, etc (most qualities that a woman normally displays). They are becoming more like women and that’s plain scary. I asked Malicious the merciless what he thought was happening; he immediately became defensive (typical men and they say women are the only ones who blow fuses). He said REAL MEN don’t do all the pansy stuff. RIGHT does it mean that REAL men don’t love themselves and don’t spend excessive amounts of time on themselves? What the heck are REAL MEN? When I mentioned this to Hulk,,Demented and the guys in office they too became defensive. I remember when I asked Hulk one day whether he knew a particular person, he told me he knew her and gave me the entire list of guys she dated. That was gossip, he retorted saying that men don’t gossip, they share information. RIGHT more like unwanted information. Man may call it sharing information, women call it gossip. It’s the same thing.
Metrosexuals didn’t exist in Sri Lanka 10 years ago or at least they weren’t in the open, but now its becoming quite popular, and men have become a target audience for designer clothes, designer haircuts and what not. Men 20 years ago would have found this utterly gay and revolting, but now almost all of the male species endorse in it. There is nothing wrong with it but what I don’t understand is why they keep justifying themselves.
So the sole point of this post is to say to all men that the next time they say women are this and that, they should step back take a good look at themselves, admit their faults, admit that at times they could have womanly tendencies too and never ever say women are complicated.
You know what I honestly think women aren’t complicated, men aren’t complicated either. The problem is that we don’t understand ourselves. In the bible it says to first remove the rafter from your eye before removing it from your brothers eye. I think what it means is to ‘address your faults, before pointing fingers’

I have this annoying habit of never finishing my sentences. I know it irritates people around me, what’s worse is that it irritates me. A recent conversation with a male friend of mine goes like this:
Fat friend who has a crush on me: (Pointing at what I was wearing then) Why do you wear that type of clothes?
Me: I don’t like to wear clothes…
What I wanted to say was ” I don’t like to wear clothes that are body fitting”
Another conversation with my big boss whom I call the Great White One.
Great white one: So what do you think?
Me: I don’t think…
What I really wanted to say was ” I don’t think the commercial is that great”
See what I mean. So why do I do this? I don’t know. I’ve decided that I really need to find a reason for this annoying habit of mine so I listed down 3 things that maybe a contributing factor
1. I’m too lazy to finish my sentences
2. I’ve already spoken in my head, so you just go on ahead and read my mind
3. I’ve just moved onto the next topic while you’re still stuck with the last one
